“The Octopus Tree of Oregon, USA.
This huge Sitka spruce is located a few hundred feet from Cape Meares Lighthouse on the Oregon Coast in USA. It is shaped like an inverted octopus with branches growing like giant tentacles from its 50 foot or 15 meter base and has no central trunk. It has six candelabra limbs that extend from the base as much as 16 feet or 5 meters before turning upward.
The tree is believed to be 200 to 300 years old dating back to when Native Americans lived in the area. It was featured in “”Ripley’s Believe It or Not”” and described as one of the modern Wonders of the World. ”
