Gulmohar is a flamboyant tree in flower and some call it the world’s most colourful tree!
It adds color and beauty to the city when it blooms, just before the south-west monsoons. It can grow to around 40 feet or 12 meters tall, but its wide-spreading umbrella-like canopy can be wider than its height. In addition to its ornamental value, it is also a useful shade tree and its dense foliage provides full shade. In India, it is widely cultivated as a street tree. |
