Indian bride asks groom to plant 10,000 saplings as a Wedding Gift on Earth Day!

Priyanka Bhadoria, the Indian bride who was getting married on Apr. 22, Earth Day decided to have a green wedding. She asked her groom and his family for a unique wedding gift – to plant 10,000 saplings around her home in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. She said that her request came from a deep concern about the environment.

The 22-year-old science graduate revealed that she has seen her father, a farmer, face several difficulties and low crop yields due to droughts caused by the region’s shrinking green cover over the years. The couple plan to plant saplings on their wedding anniversaries, and also distribute them among farmers to encourage forestation.
