Indian Giant Flying Squirrels Spotted around areas near Sitamata Wildlife Sanctuary – DNA!
It is the first instance that three flying squirrels were seen in Dhariavad and Pratpagarh districts. This species has appeared from Sitamata Sanctuary of Chittorgarh, a known natural habitat of the rare species. This endangered species was spotted during a photo shoot here at Sena Baoji forest, a regional forest area included in the wildlife census. “Since the past two days, people here were telling about the flying squirrel, but it was not confirmed then. But, during the census at Sena Baoji Wakli Puliya, two flying squirrels were spotted at 7.45pm and one more was seen at 1.32am,” said Dara Singh Ranawat, regional forest officer. The news of the presence of flying squirrels came as a joy to wildlife conservationists and the forest department officials. |
