Sleeping Beauty Spring

If I could paint a picture
It would be of this tree
Sun shining through
Branches tickling me
I rest at its trunk
Read aloud to a bee
Two small spotted skunks
Are both here to see
The sun and the tree
Listen gently

100-something ants
On a voyage
All around your uneven terrain
One-by-one,
I hear their little voices
So full of hope and promise
“We’re gonna make it today!”
