“Tree Bean’s edible pods are considered a delicacy in Manipur, India!
It can grow to over 30 meters or 100 feet high and is found from north east India to Indonesia. The fruit is long, contains flattened legume pods that can hold up to 21 edible seeds.
Its seeds are used in traditional medicine and to make coffee in Africa. Its bark extract is used to treat diarrhoea while the bark and leaves is used to treat skin infections. It is planted for ornamental purposes and is a popular garden tree in the Indian state of Assam.
